LSU’s home opener against Vanderbilt on Saturday, Sept. 12 will be televised by ESPNU and will carry a 6 p.m. kickoff time, the Southeastern Conference announced on Wednesday.
The SEC also announced that LSU’s non-conference contest against Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 19 will be televised by ESPNU and kickoff at 6 p.m. in Tiger Stadium. The SEC and ESPN released television plans for just the first three weeks of the regular season. The remainder of the television schedule will be announced as the season progresses.
Both games are part of the new 15-year landmark television package between ESPN and the SEC which calls for extensive coverage in football, men’s and women’s basketball, Olympic sports and conference championship content across multiple ESPN entities beginning this fall.
As a result of the deal -– the longest national rights agreement in ESPN history – ESPN will showcase more than 5,500 SEC events on ESPN, ESPN on ABC, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Regional Television, ESPN360.com, ESPN Mobile TV, ESPN GamePlan, ESPN FULL COURT, ESPN International, ESPN Deportes and ESPN Classic. ESPN has televised the SEC since 1982.
